The X42 Tank Monitor is a standalone water tank level monitor designed and manufactured in Queensland, Australia. It is a one-time purchase with no ongoing costs.

What is a tank level monitor?

A tank level monitor is a device that measures how much water is in your rainwater tank and displays the information so you can check it without climbing the tank or guessing. The X42 Tank Monitor uses a hydrostatic pressure sensor and displays readings on a standalone Homebase unit inside your home via long-range LoRa radio.

How does the X42 Tank Monitor work?

The X42 sensor node installs on your tank and measures the water level using a hydrostatic pressure sensor. It transmits readings every 60 minutes to the X42 Homebase in your home via long-range LoRa radio, up to 1 km line of sight. The Homebase displays your current level, predicts when you will run out, tracks weekly consumption, and alerts you when the level drops below your threshold. No internet, Wi-Fi, mobile coverage, or app is required.

Does the X42 Tank Monitor require a subscription?

No. The X42 is a one-time purchase with no ongoing subscription fees. There are no monthly charges, no data fees, and no hidden costs. The purchase price is the total cost of ownership.

Does the X42 need Wi-Fi or internet?

No. The X42 uses its own long-range LoRa radio to communicate between the sensor node and Homebase. It works completely independently of Wi-Fi, mobile coverage, or internet. No data leaves your property.

Does the X42 need an app?

No. The X42 displays your tank level on the Homebase's built-in touch display. There is no app to download, no account to create, and no phone required. It works out of the box.

What types of tanks does the X42 work with?

The X42 Tank Monitor works with polyethylene (poly), concrete, steel, and fibreglass tanks in virtually any size and shape common in Australia, including round, slimline, and rectangular tanks. It is best installed via a 90mm stormwater overflow pipe. If your tank does not have one, an end cap installation method is available.

How do I install the X42 Tank Monitor?

Install the sensor node into your tank's 90mm stormwater overflow pipe or use the included end cap method. Pair it with the Homebase using a single button press. Place the Homebase inside your home on the kitchen bench, laundry, or anywhere convenient. Installation takes about ten minutes with no special tools or trades required.

Can the X42 monitor multiple tanks?

Yes. A single X42 Homebase can monitor up to 4 different tanks with additional sensor nodes. Each tank displays independently on the Homebase.

How far can the X42 sensor be from the Homebase?

The X42 works up to 1 km line of sight between the sensor node and Homebase. The LoRa radio signal passes through bush and walls, easily covering the distances typical on rural and semi-rural Australian properties.

How long do the X42 batteries last?

The sensor node battery lasts approximately 12 months and the Homebase battery lasts approximately 7 months. Both units run on standard AA batteries. Energizer Lithium batteries are recommended for best performance and longest life.
